About
Roseanna's Pizza, located at 501 N Hyde Park Ave in Scranton, PA, stands as a beloved local staple known for its straightforward charm and hearty flavors. This classic pizzeria has built a strong reputation over the years, especially for its Italian hoagies and variety of pizzas that attract both longtime residents and newcomers alike.
What makes Roseanna's Pizza truly special is the balance between quality and value. Despite recent price increases, the Italian hoagie remains a standout—bold, satisfying, and packed with rich ingredients that keep customers coming back. Reviews consistently praise the hoagies, describing them as a must-try item with a loyal following. They offer a wide selection, ensuring there is something for every palate.
The pizzas here feature a thick crust with a soft texture, which some may find requires an extra minute in the oven to reach their ideal crispness. The sauce is flavorful, though milder in spice and garlic, catering to broad tastes without overwhelming the palate. The pepperoni and "works" options reveal well-rounded flavor profiles, and while some personal adjustments enhance the experience—like crisping on a cast iron pan—the base quality is dependable and comforting.
Service at Roseanna's complements the food perfectly. Staff are praised for their friendliness and quick service, adding warmth to the overall dining experience. A crucial note for first-timers is the cash-only policy, which isn't always highlighted upfront but is part of the ordering process, particularly for phone orders.
Overall, Roseanna's Pizza embodies the essence of classic neighborhood eateries. It offers hearty, affordable meals with a focus on generous portions and familiar flavors. Whether stopping by for a quick hoagie or sharing a large pizza with friends, this Scranton institution delivers satisfying meals that welcome you like an old friend.
“ This place is a classic. Known for cheap prices. Yet amazing tasting food. They have got pricey over the years. Their now infamous Italian hoagie started at $2. Then $2.50, then $3. I was surprised that when I called, i found out the hoagie s are now $3.50. (Still worth it) they have all kinds of hoagies, pizza etc.staff is always super nice but might want to call ahead. On the usual busy because of the price nd quality of their establishment. ”
“ The pizza was good! Although I drove there and did not have cash and no one mentioned it was cash only when I placed the order, so I had to drive to get cash and come back, which was obviously frustrating and also the extra time made the pizza not as good, etc. I will still be returning but I would encourage them to mention cash only to anyone placing an order over the phone. ”
“ I tried their Italian hoagie for the 1st time and was very happy with it and the service, I definitely will be back ! Thank you for the great experience ”
“ This is a regular stop for us. Quick service and friendly people. Italian hoagies are always great and the large pizza is delicious. Just remember it’s cash only. ”
“ We got pepperoni square pizza, the works smalll round, and an onion small round. The flavors wete good but every pie needed another minute or 3 in the oven. The thick crust was a bit too soft for my taste. I threw it on a cast iron pan to crisp it up. Also its cash only so fyi. The pizza sauce was pretty good, i prefer a bit more heat and garlic but i understand that many people dont like those flavors, plus its easy for me to add personally. I'd try this place a few more times, see what else they do well ”
